  1. Material Grade and Properties to ASTM A500 Grade C with minimum Fy = 350MPa for round and square HSS sections and design wall thickness.
  2. Material Grade and properties to CAN/CSA – G40.21 Grade 350W minimum Fy = 350 MPa for round and square HSS sections is an acceptable alternative.
  3. Light Pole reviewed to the structural requirements of AASHTO Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for fatigue analysis is required, then that review should be performed by the end user’s Professional Engineer.
  4. Maximum EPA values are based on the following general arrangement limitations noted in 4a and 4b:
    1. Side mounted fixtures only located no higher than the top of the pole with the centre of the EPA a maximum of 24” out horizontally from the centerline of the pole.
    2. Top mounted fixture with the centre of the EPA a maximum of 2’-0” from the top of the noted pole height.
  1. The minimum EPA is limited to 2 square feet and the maximum EPA is limited to 13 Square feet.
  2. The noted anchor rods are minimum requirements and to be all threaded HD galvanized Grade B7 (Fy = 105 ksi and Fu = 125 ksi) with washers and heavy hex nuts.  Proved tack welded washer and heavy hex nut at bottom of anchor rods.  End users Professional Engineer to provide final anchor rod detailing and design.              “Thorco Poles is not responsible for anchor rods supplied by others and carries no responsibility for customer specified anchor rods for custom poles.”
  3. End users Professional Engineer to specify grouting under base plates with high strength non shrink grout which must not contain any harmful corrosive additives.  The maximum grout space between the top of the concrete and the underside of the base plate not to exceed the diameter of the anchor rod.
  4. Anchor plates to be minimum Grade 300W Steel.
  5. Concrete foundations and details of load transfer between the anchor rods and the concrete foundation is to be confirmed by the end users Professional engineer.
  6. For loading configurations outside the noted limitations the end users Professional Engineer shall confirm that the selected pole has the required capacity for the required loading criteria and fixture arrangement.
